Ghanaian rapper Medikal recently opened up about the reason behind his decision to publicly announce his separation from his wife.
In a revealing interview with Accra-based Starr FM, Medikal disclosed that a video of D-Black lighting a cigar for his wife played a significant role in prompting him to address their breakup.
The incident occurred during Medikal’s performance at the O2 Indigo, where D-Black extended good wishes to him. However, things took a sour turn when Medikal saw a video of D-Black lighting a cigar for his wife in a club.
This act of familiarity between D-Black and Medikal’s spouse led to the rapper deciding to speak out about their separation to dispel any rumors or speculations.
“I value respect deeply. Witnessing my colleague’s spouse in public, taking part in such activities, didn’t sit well with me,” Medikal expressed. Seeing the video was the tipping point for him to go public about their separation, as he couldn’t bear the thought of others assuming his wife would engage in such behavior.
Despite understanding D-Black’s perspective and initially wanting to handle the matter privately, Medikal felt compelled to address the situation due to the implications of the video. Critics have since criticized D-Black for socializing with Medikal’s wife, Fella Makafui, during her breakup and for sharing a smoke with her at a club.
In response to the backlash, D-Black clarified that the event he and Fella Makafui attended was a “cigar party” hosted at one of his clubs. He emphasized that he had minimal contact with Fella Makafui for nearly two years before the event and refuted any claims of misconduct. Regarding the specific incident of lighting Fella’s cigar, D-Black stated that he simply assisted her in lighting the cigar she purchased herself.
