Renowned activist Kwame A Plus has drawn attention to the detrimental effects of Ghana’s persistent power crisis on marriages.
In a recent video shared online, Kenyan MP Babu Iwino expressed how the unstable power supply disrupts relationships, stating that couples struggle to engage in the process of lovemaking due to the lack of electricity.
This issue is not exclusive to Kenya, as Babu Iwino previously raised similar concerns in the Kenyan parliament regarding the impact of erratic power supply and high electricity costs on marriages.
He emphasized that a successful and enjoyable marriage cannot exist when the cost of electricity is exorbitant, as it affects various aspects of intimate relationships.
With Ghana currently facing its own electricity challenges, Kwame A Plus has echoed Babu Iwino’s sentiments and called for people to notice the power crisis’s broader social implications. He emphasized the difficulties couples face in the dark during load-shedding periods, highlighting the strain it puts on relationships.
However, despite public demand for a ‘dumsor’ timetable to inform citizens of the power outages, Energy Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh has rejected the idea, assuring Ghanaians that the government is working diligently to resolve the power challenges.
Former Member of Parliament Samuel Ayeh-Paye also reaffirmed that the government is committed to addressing the electricity issues by the end of May.
