President John Dramani Mahama has made an important appointment to foster better connections with Ghanaians living abroad.
Media personality and creative entrepreneur, Kofi Okyere-Darko (KOD), has been chosen as the Presidential Adviser on Diaspora Affairs.
This decision reflects President Mahama’s dedication to enhancing relationships with Ghanaians overseas, encouraging investment opportunities, and promoting cultural and economic partnerships.
KOD, the CEO of the clothing line Nineteen 57 and the brain behind the annual fashion and music event Rhythms on Da Runway, brings a wealth of experience in bridging the gap between Ghana and its global diaspora.
Born as Richard Aidoo on January 13, 1978, in Winneba, KOD has a family background deeply rooted in service to the nation. His father, James Aidoo, served as a retired deputy director of the Ghana Prisons, while his mother, Margaret Aidoo, played a pivotal role in the 31 December Women’s Movement.
After receiving his education in Winneba and Adukrom, KOD pursued further studies at the Ghana Institute of Journalism and obtained a Master of Arts in Public Relations degree from the University of Media, Arts, and Communication (UniMAC).
His career journey started as a production assistant at Ghana Broadcasting Corporation and later expanded to the UK, where he worked with renowned fashion designers like Ted Baker and Paul Smith.
Returning to Ghana, KOD made a significant impact in the media industry, serving in various capacities at Radio Gold, LIVE FM, and the EIB Network. His versatility as a presenter, events manager, and marketing professional has earned him accolades and recognition in the industry.
