Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay has demonstrated her philanthropic spirit by making a donation to support traders affected by the recent fire at the Kantamanto Market in Accra. The devastating fire, which occurred on January 2, 2025, destroyed over 7,000 shops and impacted more than 30,000 traders.
Despite facing challenges such as water shortages and logistical issues, efforts were made to combat the blaze.
Wendy Shay, in a post on her Instagram page on January 5, 2025, shared a video of her visit to Kantamanto, where she expressed her support for those affected. In the video, Wendy can be seen showering money on the traders and also donating an undisclosed amount of money in an envelope to them.
The traders were appreciative of Wendy’s kind gesture, with some pledging their support for her in all her endeavors.
Wendy Shay’s donation is just one of many acts of solidarity, as other public figures like O.K. Frimpong, the Member of Parliament-elect for Asante Akyem North Constituency, and Nana Kwame Bediako, a business mogul and presidential aspirant for the 2024 election, have also visited the market to show their support.
