Dr. Caryn Agyemang Prempeh, the daughter of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has revealed her preference for her children to marry within the royal family.
In a recent interview on Joy FM, Dr. Agyemang Prempeh emphasized the importance of marrying someone who understands and respects royal traditions. She shared her personal experiences, stating, “I was a bit resistant, but then I’ve grown to believe that it makes it easier because, if you marry someone who understands the culture or is familiar with Asanteman and the rules, they appreciate you better. They know where you’re coming from, and so they respect you better. The further you move away from it, the more difficult it is.”
Dr. Agyemang Prempeh believes that marrying within the royal family fosters mutual understanding and cultural familiarity, ultimately enhancing marital harmony. Despite not being in the royal league herself, she expressed her desire for her children to conform to royal traditions, as she believes it will make life easier for them in the long run.
