Renowned actress, creative industry icon, and philanthropist, Akorfa Edjeani, has called on Ghanaians to remain patient as the country works through its current economic challenges.
Speaking at a Thanksgiving Service hosted by Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzra, the Member of Parliament for Ho West Constituency, Akorfa Edjeani expressed confidence in the leadership of President-elect John Dramani Mahama but emphasized that the recovery process will not happen overnight.
The event marked Mr Bedzra’s 5th term victory and brought together party supporters and constituents to celebrate the success of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December 7, 2024, general elections.
Akorfa Edjeani highlighted the significance of the win, stating that it signifies Ghanaians’ weariness of past financial challenges and mismanagement.
The actress did not shy away from critiquing the current economic state of the country, attributing the struggles to the outgoing administration.
She urged Ghanaians to be realistic and patient as the new government works towards rebuilding the economy. Emphasizing the need for unity and collaboration, Akorfa Edjeani called on citizens to come together to reset and build a better Ghana.
Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzra, in his address, pledged to expedite the recovery process by ensuring the retrieval of looted funds within the first 120 days of the new administration. He assured constituents of the NDC’s commitment to fulfilling its manifesto promises and addressing the specific needs of the Ho West Constituency.
Mr Bedzra’s victory, with 28,110 votes, showcased overwhelming support from the constituents, defeating his opponent by a significant margin.
The event underscored the growing anticipation among Ghanaians for change under President-elect John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government.
