Suga, a member of the popular K-pop boy band BTS, has been fined 15 million won ($11,500; £8,600) for driving an electric scooter while intoxicated. The singer, whose real name is Min Yoon-gi, was caught by police near his Seoul home after falling off the scooter and being found drunk.

Local media reports state that Suga’s blood alcohol level was 0.227%, well above the legal limit of 0.08%. As a result, a district court in Seoul imposed the fine and revoked his license last Friday.

In a statement released in August, Suga apologized for his actions, acknowledging his mistake and expressing remorse for potentially harming others. Despite facing backlash and calls for him to leave BTS, many of Suga’s fans have shown their support for him.

The 31-year-old is currently serving as a social service agent in the military, as he was deemed unfit for regular combat duty.

This incident serves as a reminder that K-pop idols in South Korea are expected to maintain a clean image, and highlights the importance of responsible behavior, even outside of work commitments.
