The recently elected Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central Constituency, Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as A Plus, has shared a heartwarming story about how his late father played a significant role in his electoral victory.
During an interview on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z segment, A Plus revealed that his father, on the brink of passing away, called all the chiefs in the constituency to endorse his son’s bid for MP.
Initially hesitant about A Plus’s involvement in politics, his father eventually came around and supported his decision to enter mainstream politics. Just before his passing, he made a special request to the chiefs to throw their support behind his son’s political aspirations.
In a touching moment, A Plus recounted how his father miraculously recovered from a coma and expressed his desire to ensure his son’s success in the election. Following his father’s wishes, the chiefs rallied behind A Plus, even attending his father’s funeral in large numbers to show their support.
Looking ahead to his time in parliament, A Plus has vowed to prioritize the interests of his constituents. He has also pledged to serve only two terms as an MP before launching a Presidential bid. Running as an independent candidate, A Plus secured victory with 14,277 votes, surpassing the incumbent MP from the New Patriotic Party by a significant margin of 2,640 votes.
