Last week, Selma Blair was criticized for making an anti-Islam comment on a post regarding the Israel–Hamas conflict.
The actress came under fire on social media after posting a comment regarding Hamas terrorists from October 7 and members of congress who were against banning them from entering the USA.
She mistakenly conflated Muslims with Radical Islamists and fundamentalists, and after realizing her mistake, she immediately removed the comment and issued an apology on Instagram.
Blair stated that she recognizes the consequences of her errant words and regrets hurting people she never meant to. She expressed regret and promised to do better.
The actress also emphasized her respect and love for all peace-loving communities, particularly the Muslim community, which helped educate and enlighten her. Blair has voiced her commitment to promoting tolerance and peace, describing herself as someone who tries to create branches and bridges for marginalized communities.
After her comment, filmmaker James Lebrecht and the Council on American-Islamic Relations were among those who criticized Selma Blair.
In spite of the backlash, Blair apologized to the Muslim community, her friends, and everyone she may have offended, promising to do better with love and appreciation.
