Gospel musician Akesse Brempong believes that artists aligning themselves with the ideologies of a political party is not wrong.
Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime’s Celeb Biz Saturday with Amelley Djosu, Brempong questioned why there is intolerance of gospel artists supporting a political party, especially in an election year.
The ‘God is working’ hitmaker is of the opinion that musicians can be partisan and still appeal to a very polarized society. He believes that our intolerance to divergent political views may be detrimental to our very survival as a country.
In the interview, Akesse Brempong indicated that gospel musicians can identify with the ideologies of a political party and belong to one. He also mentioned that Ghanaians should be more tolerant of the idea of gospel musicians supporting a party.
Brempong, who is also a pastor, revealed that he is not financially supported by his church and does not want to be a financial liability while discharging his pastoral duties. He relies on multiple streams of revenue aside from his music career to make ends meet.
