Entertainment journalist Edem Mensah Tsotorme has expressed enthusiasm about the newly launched Black Star Experience, calling it a significant step toward elevating Ghana as a cultural and creative hub in Africa.

In a recent appearance on The Chat on Channel One TV, Tsotorme praised both the vision and execution of the initiative while stressing the necessity of ongoing commitment to maximize its potential.

“The setup and the conversations during the launch were very promising. However, it’s crucial that we maintain momentum beyond this initial phase,” he stated.

President John Dramani Mahama unveiled the Black Star Experience on May 1, part of his 120-day social contract aimed at boosting national identity and harnessing Ghana’s rich cultural heritage for economic advancement.

Tsotorme emphasized that this initiative aligns with strategies for nation branding, where countries actively promote positive images to enhance trade, attract investment, and encourage tourism.

“The essence of the Black Star Experience revolves around nation branding. By creating a unique identity, we can foster a positive association with the country whenever our name is mentioned,” he explained.

He further noted the economic benefits of effective nation branding, highlighting that a positive national image can significantly attract investors and enhance trade opportunities.

“A strong national reputation can lead to substantial economic impacts. When a country is recognized for its positive attributes, it draws interest from investors and trading partners,” Tsotorme added.

The Black Star Experience aims to be a unifying platform for Ghana’s arts, culture, tourism, and creative sectors, positioning the nation as a premier destination for African excellence and innovation.
