In an effort to redefine Ghana’s cultural narrative for the month of December, De Graft Oppong, co-founder of Entertainment Week Ghana, is calling for a strategic repositioning of Detty December amidst increasing competition from other African countries during the festive season.

Scheduled to kick off in the first week of December 2025, Entertainment Week Ghana aims to revolutionize the entertainment industry and position Ghana as a key destination for creativity, innovation, and cultural exchange.

The event will bring together key stakeholders, innovators, and investors for discussions on digital transformation, content monetization, and the evolving entertainment landscape. A global entertainment summit will feature panel discussions led by renowned creative executives and industry experts.

Moreover, a special award ceremony will recognize 15 individuals who have made significant contributions to the entertainment industry across various disciplines. A highlight of the event will be the “Deal Room,” where venture capital firms and tech entrepreneurs can network and explore partnership opportunities.

Oppong emphasized the importance of empowering creatives, especially those who have been marginalized, and leveraging technology and innovation for long-term success. The event has received strong support from the Ministry for Youth Development and Empowerment, as well as Diaspora Affairs Ghana, indicating its potential to shape the future of the creative industry.

Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, underscored the event’s role in combining technology and innovation with Ghana’s rich entertainment heritage. Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), Director of Diaspora Affairs Ghana, praised the inclusive nature of the event, welcoming participation from both local stakeholders and the Ghanaian diaspora.
