Ghanaian artist, Bashir Annan, known as Gambo, has been nominated for an International Collaboration of the Year award at the upcoming 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) for his song “Drip Remix.”

The track, featuring US rapper Jim Jones and Ghanaian musician Edem, has been praised for its fusion of cultures and its role in showcasing Ghanaian culture on a global platform.

The music video for “Drip Remix,” shot in New York, is a stunning piece of Afro-hip-hop artistry, with Jim Jones adorned in Kente cloth like a Ghanaian king.

This collaboration is groundbreaking as it marks the first time a Ghanaian artist has inspired a Western artist to embrace Ghanaian culture, rather than simply imitating Western styles.

The competition at this year’s TGMA is fierce, with top Ghanaian artists such as Stonebwoy, King Promise, Joe Mettle, and Diana Hamilton also vying for awards.

However, the cultural significance and pride displayed in the “Drip Remix” video, from the traditional drummers and warrior attire to the Adwoa dance, have positioned it as a strong contender for the International Collaboration of the Year category.

Charterhouse, the organizers of the TGMA, have announced nominees for various categories, including Best HipHop Song, Best Afrobeat Song, Best Hiplife Song, Best Highlife Song, and more. The anticipation is high for the awards ceremony, as artists and fans alike await the results.
