The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has refuted claims that actress Joselyn Dumas has been appointed in John Mahama’s government.
Various media outlets reported on March 2, 2025, that Joselyn Dumas had been named as the Deputy Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Office of the President.
However, Felix Kwakye Ofosu clarified that he could confirm the appointments of all other individuals from the creative arts industry to government positions except for Dumas.
Recent appointments include Kofi Okyere Darko as Director of Diaspora Affairs, Rex Omar as Coordinator of Blackstar Experience, Abeiku Santana as Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Kafui Danku as Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority, and James Gardiner as Deputy Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority.
These appointments, authenticated by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, were not officially publicized on the Presidency or the Minister of Government’s Communications social media platforms, leading to skepticism from the public.
The information was disseminated by credible sources or close associates of the appointees, including Joselyn Dumas.
Upon the news of Joselyn Dumas’ alleged appointment circulating on social media, some users expressed dissatisfaction, questioning her allegiance to the party and the basis for her selection.
