Ayra Starr, Mofe-Damijo to join Idris Elba as cast of ‘Children of Blood and Bone’

The highly-anticipated film adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s best-selling novel, Children of Blood and Bone, has recently announced new additions to its star-studded cast. Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr and veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo are among the latest names to join the production.

Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the fantasy epic features a talented ensemble cast with Thuso Mbedu playing the role of Zélie, Tosin Cole as Tzain, Amandla Stenberg as Princess Amari, and Damson Idris as Prince Inan.

The film will also include other prominent stars such as Chiwetel Ejiofor, Regina King, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, and Lashana Lynch in key roles.

Set in the mythical kingdom of Orïsha, Children of Blood and Bone follows the journey of Zélie, a young warrior on a quest to restore magic to her people after enduring oppression by a ruthless king.

Filming for the movie will take place in South Africa, with a release date expected in early 2027. Fans of the novel can look forward to seeing their favorite characters come to life on the big screen in this highly-anticipated adaptation.
