Tiwa Savage, a renowned Nigerian music icon, has revealed that she has no intentions of signing another artist under her wing. In an interview with Forbes Africa, she explained that managing talents can be stressful and cited examples of artists causing trouble even when she is not actively engaged in their careers.

Instead of signing artists, Tiwa Savage expressed her desire to support upcoming musicians by creating a music school. She believes that providing a platform for aspiring artists to learn and grow before signing with a label will be more beneficial in the long run.

In addition to her personal success, Tiwa Savage emphasized the importance of African artists taking ownership of their art and industry. She urged artists to control their publishing, labels, and narratives, rather than seeking validation from foreign markets.

Furthermore, Tiwa Savage advised emerging artists to focus on building a strong foundation before rushing to fame. She highlighted the pressures of success, such as streams, concerts, and obligations, and stressed the importance of staying true to oneself amidst external influences.

Lastly, Tiwa Savage challenged the industry to invest in building a self-sufficient music ecosystem rather than trying to break into foreign markets. She believes that with the right infrastructure, affordable data, and investment, African artists can create a thriving industry that others will aspire to be a part of.
