In a surprising turn of events, Jay-Z has filed a defamation lawsuit against a woman who previously accused him of rape.
The woman, who had initially withdrawn her legal action in February, is now facing allegations of making false claims in what Jay-Z’s legal team is calling an “evil conspiracy” to extort money and tarnish his reputation.
The anonymous woman had filed a lawsuit in October, accusing Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping her when she was just 13, following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. Both rappers vehemently denied the allegations.
According to Jay-Z’s defamation action, the woman admitted to being pressured by her lawyers, including Tony Buzbee and David Fortney, into making false claims against the rapper.
The lawsuit also highlights discrepancies in the woman’s story, including naming a celebrity guest at the MTV party who was actually performing in a different city on the night in question.
Mr. Buzbee, who has been representing multiple individuals accusing Mr. Combs of misconduct, extortion, assault, and other offenses, has denied any wrongdoing. He claims that Jay-Z’s team has been attempting to intimidate the woman into retracting her statements.
