Prince M.I.K. honoured as street dance culture ambassador at GHADI awards

Ghanaian-born artiste, Prince “M.I.K.” Ofori, has been honoured for his outstanding contributions to the dance industry.

The prestigious Ghana Dance Industry Awards (GHADI Awards) recognised his impact on dance culture both in Ghana and internationally by awarding him the Street Dance Culture Ambassador title at a ceremony held at the National Theatre in Accra on February 8th, 2025.

Having moved to Berlin as a teenager, Prince M.I.K. has broken cultural barriers through his love for dance and music. He has become a significant figure in the German cultural scene, wearing many hats as an organiser, DJ, artistic director, and dancer.

As the founder of M.I.K Family, he has played a key role in shaping the street dance scene in Germany, particularly in the Krump genre.

Beyond his personal career, Prince is deeply connected to his community. He serves as the chairman of MINCE e.V., an NGO focused on anti-discriminatory youth work through black dance cultures.

He is also the co-organizer of CDC Festival, Europe’s leading festival for Black Dance Culture over the past decade, which has become a hub for African and Caribbean dance artists.

The upcoming 11th edition of the CDC Festival is scheduled to take place in Berlin from May 28th to June 1st, 2025. Prince’s dedication to these initiatives has left a lasting imprint on the black street dance industry.

At the recent GHADI Awards, Prince M.I.K. stood out in BOYEDOE clothing, showcasing his commitment to promoting Ghanaian talent in various forms.

Winning the Street Dance Culture Ambassador Award is a significant achievement for him, underscoring the importance of street dance culture as a transformative tool for artistic and social expression.

With this latest accolade, Prince M.I.K. continues to build his legacy as a cultural bridge-builder in the global dance scene.

He is currently working on a partnership with Dancetera, the organisers of the Ghana Dance Festival, to establish a merit-based system for selecting top talent each year to participate in the CDC Festival in Europe. This project, led by Robert Klah, a seasoned dance promoter with a footprint across Africa, is set to launch in 2026.
