Ghanaian musician Trigmatic recently opened up about his narrow escape from a record label deal in the United Kingdom early in his career.

The artist revealed that the label offered him glamour and success, but at a steep cost – ownership of the masters to his debut album ‘Permanent Stains.’

In an interview with Joy FM’s Showbiz A to Z, Trigmatic emphasized the importance of carefully considering record label deals before making a decision. He recounted how the label flew him to the UK and showed him their studios, tempting him with the prospect of working with renowned artists.

Despite his initial excitement, Trigmatic sought advice from his lawyer before signing the contract. To his surprise, his lawyer pointed out flaws in the deal and the potential long-term consequences of signing away his rights.

Reflecting on the experience, Trigmatic acknowledged that he may have missed out on a larger distribution network by declining the deal. However, he also noted the importance of not rushing into agreements solely for the sake of glamour.
