The Ghana Dance Industry Awards, set to take place on February 8, 2025, has unveiled the stunning plaque that will be awarded to the winners.
The GHADI Award plaque is a testament to Ghanaian artistry and cultural significance, featuring a blend of colors, symbols, and figurines that embody the essence of dance in the country.
The plaque showcases a striking combination of black and gold, symbolizing strength, authority, and wealth. This color scheme exudes luxury and sophistication, adding a touch of opulence to the statuette.
The figurine on the plaque encapsulates the essence of Ghanaian dance, with an iconic azonto pose symbolizing victory and joy.
The Azonto dance style, originating in Ghana, represents unity and diversity, bridging tribal boundaries and leaving a global impression. Paired with the djembe drum, a symbol of empowerment in dance, the plaque beautifully merges traditional and modern dance styles.
Engraved with ten carefully selected Adinkra symbols, the djembe drum represents essential values and virtues from Ghanaian philosophy. These symbols, including Dwennimmen (Humility & Strength), Gye Nyame (Supremacy of God), and Fawohodie (Freedom & Emancipation), embody principles that lead to success and stardom in the dance industry.
The star symbol at the heart of the dancer emphasizes the idea that true stardom stems from inner brilliance, nurtured by embracing values represented by the Adinkra symbols. Concept Developer and founder of the Ghana Dance Industry Awards, Robert Klah, expressed his pride in the creation of the plaque, designed to champion Ghanaian art and culture.
The awards ceremony will take place at the National Theatre of Ghana on February 8th, with Jay Foley and Chrystal Kwame Aryee as MCs.
