Ghanaian highlife sensation, Akwaboah, recently shared in an interview that during the early stages of his career, he wrote songs for other artists without expecting any payment in return. One notable example was the popular song ‘Daa Ke Daa’ by Becca, which he composed out of pure passion for music.

In his conversation with DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz, Akwaboah admitted that at the time, he was more focused on the joy of creating music that would resonate with audiences rather than monetary gain.

He expressed his happiness in seeing the song he wrote for Becca become a hit and receive airplay on radio and TV.

Apart from Becca, Akwaboah has also penned songs for other notable artists such as Efya, Kofi Sarpong, and Sarkodie. Despite his success in the music industry, Akwaboah remains grounded in his Christian faith, having served as a choirmaster and keyboardist in his church for almost 24 years.

While Akwaboah’s music is not strictly gospel, he emphasized that his gift lies in writing love songs that speak to the hearts of many. He acknowledged the challenges musicians face when navigating between their spiritual beliefs and the business side of the music industry.
