Ghanaian broadcaster Serwaa Amihere has shared her experience of overcoming a challenging situation in the past year.
Last year, an intimate video supposedly involving her circulated, causing distress and turmoil in her life.
However, she recently revealed at the Ignite Youth Empowerment Thanksgiving Service how her friend, Obuobia Darko-Opoku, played a crucial role in helping her through that dark period.
During the event, Serwaa emotionally recounted her battle with depression following the video’s release.
She mentioned how Obuobia showed kindness by taking her out for ice cream and providing much-needed comfort and support. Serwaa expressed heartfelt gratitude towards Obuobia, acknowledging her unwavering friendship and support during a tough time.
The video incident, which emerged on April 2, 2024, triggered a media frenzy and led to an investigation by Serwaa’s employer, EIB Network.
In a press statement dated July 5, 2024, the network declared that no misconduct or breaches were found on Serwaa’s part. The statement also confirmed that legal action was being pursued against individuals responsible for sharing the video without authorization.
Reflecting on the challenging year she endured, Serwaa took the opportunity to caution young people about making wise decisions.
She emphasized the importance of being cautious with choices as they could have long-lasting consequences. Serwaa commended Obuobia for her continued support and mentorship, describing her as an amazing person and expressing her love and appreciation for her.
The incident served as a learning experience for Serwaa, prompting her to advocate for thoughtful decision-making among the youth.
