Ghanaian rapper Manifest has shared his thoughts on the recent election results in Ghana, attributing the New Patriotic Party’s loss to citizen dissatisfaction with the government’s performance.
In an interview with BBC’s Newsday, M.anifest expressed concerns about the way the country was being run and the need for accountability from leaders.
He emphasized the importance of citizens holding the new government accountable and mentioned the activism seen in the past four years, particularly among the youth.
Manifest noted that young people, who are heavily affected by issues like high unemployment, are increasingly using their voices to express discontent and demand accountability.
While acknowledging that young people are not the only ones unhappy with the government, M.anifest highlighted the involvement of pensioners in recent protests as well.
The results of the December 7th election are yet to be officially announced by the Electoral Commission of Ghana, but the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has conceded defeat to former President John Dramani Mahama of the NDC.
