Popular Nigerian musician Davido took to social media to congratulate John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), on his victory in the December 7 elections in Ghana.
In a post shared with his millions of followers, Davido, whose real name is David Adedeji Adeleke, expressed his joy over Mahama’s win.
Mahama, who previously served as president of Ghana between July 2012 and January 2017, has also received congratulations from his main opponent, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
In a concession speech delivered on Sunday, Mr Bawumia, the candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), revealed that internal data from his party showed that the NDC had emerged victorious in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.
“Let me say that the data from our own internal collation of the election results indicate that former President John Dramani Mahama has won the presidential election decisively,” Bawumia announced.
Davido shared his excitement in a tweet, tagging Mahama and expressing his congratulations. The tweet quickly garnered attention and received numerous likes and retweets.
