Guinness Ghana DJ Awards finale powered by Smirnoff celebrates height of DJ talent in Ghana

The excitement was palpable at the grand finale of the 2024 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, powered by Smirnoff, as Ghana’s top DJs were celebrated for their remarkable contributions to the music industry.

Hosted by Merqury Republic, this year’s event marked the 12th edition of Africa’s Biggest DJ Night and set a new standard for excellence in the industry.

Under the theme “United in Music,” fans and industry professionals came together for an unforgettable evening dedicated to honoring the artistry of DJs.

The event boasted an impressive lineup of nominees, showcasing the creativity and influence of these talented individuals who play a pivotal role in Ghana’s vibrant music scene.

DJ Lord took home the highly coveted ‘DJ of the Year’ award for the second consecutive year, highlighting his dynamic contributions to the music landscape.

Meanwhile, DJ Mish was named ‘Female DJ of the Year’ in recognition of her talent and impact in the industry.

The awards featured various categories, including ‘Best Discovery DJ,’ ‘Best Female DJ,’ and ‘Best DJ/Artist Collaboration,’ with nominees and winners selected by the esteemed Ghana DJ Awards Voting Academy.

In addition, Guinness Ghana Breweries PLC, the event’s sponsor, showcased their commitment to empowering DJs by providing platforms like the Smirnoff Ice Dome and introducing the ‘Best Student DJ’ award to support emerging talent.

Yaa Amoah-Owusu, Marketing Manager for International Spirits and RTDs, praised the event for celebrating the incredible talent within the DJ community and promoting inclusivity and diversity.

The awards also emphasized the extraordinary achievements of female DJs who are breaking barriers and reshaping perceptions in a typically male-dominated field.

Leading up to the grand finale, activities included the Pub Festival, which uncovered talented DJs in regions outside Greater Accra, and the Ghana DJ Clinic, offering educational programs to empower DJs.

The reintroduction of the regional category underscored the awards’ commitment to recognizing talent from across the country.
