The current TGMA Artiste of the Year, Stonebwoy, has clarified that the release of his latest album, ‘Up & Running,’ was not driven by a desire to win a Grammy Award.
Stonebwoy, also known as Livingstone Etsa Satekla, is among the many Ghanaian artists who have not yet received a Grammy nomination. Despite narrowly missing out on a nomination in 2023 with his 5th Dimension album, he remains focused on creating music that resonates with his audience.
The highly anticipated album, “Up & Running,” was officially released on Wednesday, October 23rd. The album features the popular hit song “Jejereje,” which was unveiled at a lavish listening party held at the Alora Beach Resort at Laboma Beach in Accra.
The star-studded event was attended by celebrities such as former Shatta Wale manager Bullgod, actress Nadia Buari, TV personality Nana Mcbrown, rapper Kwaw Kese, and musician D-Black. Stonebwoy’s wife, Dr. Louisa Satekla, also showed her support at the event.
When asked by Channel One TV’s Ekow Koomson if the album was released with the hope of winning a Grammy, Stonebwoy responded, “God is my witness that I didn’t release the album because of Grammy.” He emphasized that he had never created music with the sole purpose of winning awards.
Although he acknowledged his disappointment at missing out on a Grammy nomination in the past, Stonebwoy made it clear that it did not influence his decision to release “Up & Running.” He remains focused on his craft and delivering music that connects with his fans.
