Popular Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has been suspended by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) due to what has been described as professional misconduct.
The AGN revealed that after a two-year secret investigation, Abubakar was found to be involved in slandering the Nollywood industry.
In a statement released on Friday, the Guild announced that Abubakar had been spreading false information about her colleagues, associates, and patrons.
The investigation, which was conducted by a Special Secret Investigation Panel, uncovered that Abubakar was behind the dissemination of rumors regarding extramarital affairs with high-profile individuals in society.
As a result of the findings, Abubakar has been placed on indefinite suspension and will face the National Disciplinary Committee for further punishment. She is also prohibited from participating in any AGN activities or filming projects.
The AGN also mentioned that other female members who are on the watch list are currently under investigation, particularly in relation to the recent release of names allegedly linked to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
