Ghanaian walking artist, GlennSamm, recently shared his harrowing experience while in police custody after being arrested during the ‘StopGalamseyNow’ protest.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, GlennSamm revealed that he went two days without food while in custody.

“The food in there was terrible, and I’m very cautious about what I eat. So I didn’t eat for the first 48 hours. I was out of cash, and my family didn’t know where I was, so they couldn’t bring me any food,” GlennSamm said.

During his 16-day stay in police custody, he was shuffled between three different police cells in Accra. At the Teshie Police Station, he shared a cramped room with 27 other individuals, leading to overcrowding and poor sanitation conditions.

“A lot happened at the Teshie Police Station. The cell was tiny, and there were about 27 of us crammed into it. There was no ventilation, and it was so crowded that you could only get fresh air by sticking your head into a small space,” GlennSamm recounted.

GlennSamm also mentioned that he developed a muscle pull from standing for 24 hours upon his arrival at the Teshie Police Station.

Recalling his arrest, GlennSamm stated that he was simply sitting at the bus stop at the El Wak Sports Stadium when he was picked up by the police.

“If I am sitting at El Wak, that is not part of the protest grounds,” he clarified.

GlennSamm expressed his belief that the police targeted him because of his appearance, suspecting that they were looking for certain individuals of interest.
