The second edition of the Africa Cinema Summit continued with Day 3 on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.
The day was filled with activities, including the presentation of the Legacy Awards to honor stakeholders in the film industry who have made significant contributions across the continent.
Among the recipients of the prestigious Legacy Awards were celebrated Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson and Nigerian stars AY, Kunle Afolayan, and Funke Akindele. AY, in particular, received two awards for his remarkable contributions to the industry.
The ceremony also recognized other notable Ghanaian figures such as Shirley Frimpong Manso, Leila Djansi, Yolo Producer Ivan Quashigah, and the legendary Kwaw Ansah, who was presented with the esteemed Legendary Award.
Organized by Ghana’s National Film Authority (NFA), the summit has attracted a global audience, including executives from the African diaspora and representatives from investment bodies like Afreximbank and IFC.
The event has been a platform for fostering collaboration, innovation, and growth within the African film industry.
Day 2 of the summit welcomed special guests such as the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, and the Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts, and Culture Mr. Andrew Egyapa Mercer. Day 3 was graced by actors and actresses like Adjetey Annan, Gloria Sarfo, and the CEO of the National Film Authority Juliet Yaa Asantewaa Asante.
The Africa Cinema Summit is set to conclude on Thursday, October 10, after providing a space for industry players to come together, collaborate, and drive the industry forward.
