Osagyefo’s Night 2024: Trigmatic celebrates Kwame Nkrumah’s legacy in music, arts and theatre

The third edition of Osagyefo’s Night concert was a resounding success, with a packed house at the Alliance Française on October 4, 2024. The event, celebrating Kwame Nkrumah’s enduring impact on Ghana’s music, arts, and theatre, featured a stellar performance by Trigmatic.

Trigmatic, the headline act, delivered a mesmerizing 3-hour set, performing 21 songs that included a mix of his classic hits like ‘My Life’ and ‘Wo Sika Nti’ along with new collaborations with South African artists. His performance resonated with the audience, touching on important social and political issues in Ghana.

The opening act by Josh Blakk set the stage for a lineup of talented Ghanaian artists such as Epixode, Aka Blay, Ayisi, and Nana Asaase. The event also featured the Abibigroma Theatre Company, which brought Trigmatic’s songs to life through captivating dance performances.

The night was not just a musical spectacle but also a reflection on Nkrumah’s visionary leadership. The Ambassador of Zimbabwe and Dean of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Kufa Chinoza, along with South Africa’s High Commissioner, Grace Jeanet Mason, highlighted Nkrumah’s Pan-African vision and the role of art in unifying Africa.

The concert showcased the power of music to foster unity and celebrate African culture. Nana Asaase, a performer and MC at the event paid tribute to Nkrumah’s influence on Highlife music, acknowledging the genre’s rise during his time.
