Republican U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump has expressed his strong dislike for popular singer Taylor Swift after she publicly endorsed his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris.
In a bold statement on his Truth Social media account, Trump wrote, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” This comes after Swift announced her support for Harris, citing her dedication to fighting for important causes that align with Swift’s beliefs.
Despite Trump initially downplaying Swift’s endorsement of Harris by claiming he was “not a Taylor fan,” the tables turned as recent polls show Harris gaining ground on Trump in the upcoming presidential election.
As a result, Trump has escalated his attacks on Swift, one of the most successful recording artists in history.
Swift’s endorsement of Harris garnered over 9 million likes on her Instagram post, sparking speculation that it could significantly impact the election outcome in favor of the Democrat.
In response to Trump’s hostile remarks, Harris’ vice presidential running mate Tim Walz rallied Swift’s fanbase, known as “Swifties,” to help defeat Trump in the election.
This latest clash between Trump and Swift is not the first, as the two have engaged in verbal sparring over the years. After Swift backed Democratic candidates in the 2018 elections, Trump remarked that he liked her music “about 25% less.”
The public response to Trump’s attack on Swift has been polarized, with many expressing their admiration for Swift while others defended Trump by criticizing the Biden administration.
