The Woori 2024 Festival is set to take place in the city of Wa in the Upper West region of Ghana.
This annual event celebrates the rich heritage of Ghanaian weaving and textile design. Organised by the Nubuke Foundation Centre for Textiles and Clay in Loho, Wa, this year’s theme is “Weaving a Sustainable Future for the Next Generation.”
The festival aims to promote sustainable artistic practices and the transmission of cultural heritage to safeguard the future. The festival will feature various activities, including educational workshops, an art exhibition, live demonstrations, performances, film screenings, music, and a fashion show.
It will take place at the Nubuke Foundation Centre for Textiles and Clay in Loho, Wa, from the 1st to 3rd of March, 2024.
The festival’s programme is designed to be informative and interactive, appealing to a wide audience including artists, art enthusiasts, families, and tourists.
Activities will include workshops and interactive sessions led by master weavers from various associations, live demonstrations of the weaving process, and special activities designed for children and young adults to ensure youth engagement.
