Who was Generation Kill author Evan Wright?

Renowned author and journalist, Evan Wright, has sadly passed away at the age of 59, as confirmed by his wife. Wright, best known for his work with Rolling Stone and his book Generation Kill, has left a lasting impact on the world of journalism and literature.

Throughout his career, Wright wrote for Rolling Stone, covering stories on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In 2004, he was honored with the National Magazine Award for Excellence in Reporting for his articles. Wright also delved into investigative journalism with his exposé on a CIA officer titled How to Get Away With Murder in America.

However, it was his book Generation Kill, published in 2004, that truly solidified his reputation.

The book, based on the 2003 US invasion of Iraq, followed the Marines of the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion.

HBO later turned the book into a seven-part miniseries, with The Wire creator, David Simon, co-writing the adaptation. The series, starring Alexander Skarsgård, aired in 2008.

In addition to his work with Rolling Stone, Wright also contributed to Vanity Fair and Time, covering a range of topics from music and film to investigative pieces on university sororities.

His fearless approach to journalism and storytelling has inspired many aspiring journalists and writers.

Wright leaves behind a wife, Kelli, and three children – two sons, Carter and Evan Jr., and a daughter, Kennedy.
