Eric Bischoff is a wrestling industry icon known for his role as a television producer and professional wrestling booker.

A new documentary has been released exploring the timeline of World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and Bischoff’s influence in the industry.

Born as Eric Aaron Bischoff on May 27, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan, Bischoff found fame in the late 1990s serving as the executive producer and on-screen talent for WCW.

He is best known for taking on WWE and its CEO Vince McMahon in the infamous Monday Night Wars, a ratings competition that took place between 1995-2001.

Bischoff played a pivotal role in developing WCW’s flagship show Nitro, airing at the same time as WWE’s Monday Night RAW.

Bischoff’s most notable contribution to the wrestling industry was the creation of the iconic faction New World Order (NWO), which helped Nitro beat RAW in the ratings for 83 consecutive weeks.

His tactics, such as spoiling WWE’s match results and persuading WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze to appear on Nitro, forced McMahon to strategize and ultimately led to the birth of the Attitude Era in WWE.

After leaving WCW in 2001, Bischoff made a surprise entrance on WWE’s RAW in 2002 as the General Manager.

He worked with WWE until 2005 and made a brief return in 2019 as the Executive Director of SmackDown. Bischoff later moved on to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) in 2010, serving as the Executive Producer of Impact Wrestling.

In addition to his wrestling career, Bischoff has ventured into reality TV production and even developed a brewing company in Cody, Wyoming.

Despite some setbacks in his TNA run, Bischoff remains a prominent figure in the wrestling world and continues to share his insights through his podcast and various projects.

A new documentary produced by Dwayne Johnson titled “Who Killed WCW?” sheds light on the rise and fall of WCW, featuring exclusive interviews with wrestlers, executives, and insiders.

The documentary aims to explore the complex factors that led to the promotion’s downfall during the Monday Night Wars era.

Eric Bischoff’s career highlights showcase his contributions to the wrestling industry, from his early days in the American Wrestling Association to his roles in WCW, WWE, and TNA.

Bischoff’s legacy as a game-changer in professional wrestling is undeniable, and his influence continues to be felt in the industry today.
