Olympic track and field superstar Harry ‘Butch’ Reynolds is known for his remarkable achievements in the late ’80s.

However, his career took a devastating turn in 1990 when he was falsely accused of using steroids after a drug test came back positive.

Despite fighting a long legal battle to clear his name, Reynolds was banned from competing for two years by the IAAF.

After winning a libel suit in 1992 and being awarded $27.3 million in damages, Reynolds was able to return to the track. He went on to win gold medals at the World Championships in 1993 and 1995 for the 4×400 relay.

Reynolds was welcomed into the National Track and Field Hall of Fame in 2016 for his remarkable contributions to the sport.

Today, Harry ‘Butch’ Reynolds works as an assistant track coach for Ohio Dominican University and has partnered with ESPN to share his story in a documentary titled False Positive.
