The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) recently concluded its ‘Leveraging Digital Tools to Generate Revenue’ workshop series with a final workshop in Tamale on May 30 and 31, 2024. This initiative, sponsored by the Ghana Skills Development Fund (GSDF), aimed to equip musicians with the necessary skills to thrive in the digital age and ensure sustainable income streams.
Led by industry expert Kwabena Ofei-Kwadey Nkrumah, also known as Kobby Spikey, the workshop covered various topics including creating content, online music distribution, and effective use of social media platforms. Participants expressed their appreciation for the comprehensive training and the opportunity to enhance their digital competencies.
S.K Agyemang, General Secretary of MUSIGA, commended the workshop series, stating, “By embracing digital tools, we are empowering our members to reach global audiences and generate substantial revenue.” The establishment of a Technical Resource Centre at MUSIGA’s Accra office will further support musicians in navigating the digital landscape.
Idris Baba, the Northern Regional Chairman of MUSIGA, emphasized the positive impact of the workshops on local musicians, stating that they are now better equipped to succeed in the digital music industry. MUSIGA extends its gratitude to GSDF for their support and remains committed to empowering Ghanaian musicians through education and resource provision.
