Reggae artist Ras Kuuku has claimed that his tour of the ghettos with his award in 2020 helped popularize the Ghana Music Awards scheme. In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Ras Kuuku stated that he is one of the favorite artists of the Ghana Music Awards.

“I made the scheme look so popular and bright when I received the award. I am the only artist who has made the scheme more popular than any other artist,” Ras Kuuku shared during the interview.

The musician also explained his decision to tour the ghettos with his award, emphasizing that those communities played a crucial role in his success. “I went parading around town with the award because those people made me who I am now. They haven’t seen the award before, so I needed them to see what it looked like. I left the plaque in the ghetto because that place is also part of Ghana,” he added.

Addressing rumors about misplacing his award, Ras Kuuku clarified, “I did not lose it, and neither did I misplace it. It is in my house. The award delivered through the dispatch was not mine, but that of one artist who didn’t have ‘sense’.”

Ras Kuuku’s insights into the Ghana Music Awards scheme and his dedication to sharing his success with marginalized communities reflect his passion for his craft and his commitment to uplifting others.
