Fox Sports has undergone some major changes this season with the departure of long-time broadcasters Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. Stepping into their shoes is the talented Kevin Burkhardt, an American sportscaster with a passion for the game.
Burkhardt’s journey to becoming a play-by-play announcer at Fox Sports was not a straightforward one. Hailing from New Jersey, he attended William Paterson University where he studied broadcast journalism. Burkhardt cut his teeth covering various high school sports for WGHT radio station in New Jersey before landing a part-time gig at WCBS-AM in New York.
In 2007, Burkhardt transitioned to field reporting for the New York Mets, a local MLB team, while working for SportsNet New York. He also hosted and appeared on various sports shows, showcasing his versatility and knowledge of the game. Burkhardt’s big break came when he became the play-by-play announcer for the NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys, in 2011.
Joining Fox Sports in 2013, Burkhardt has since become a familiar face to football fans across the country. In 2022, he took over the reins as Fox Sports’ lead NFL playcaller, a testament to his expertise and on-air presence. Working alongside Burkhardt is former NFL tight end Greg Olsen, who joined the network as a game analyst in 2021. The duo replaces the legendary duo of Aikman and Buck and is set to bring a fresh perspective to Fox Sports’ NFL coverage.
Fans can expect Burkhardt and Olsen to bring their A-game this season, with their chemistry and passion for the sport shining through in every broadcast. The dynamic duo is also slated to announce the highly-anticipated Super Bowl LVII in 2023, a testament to their growing reputation in the world of sports broadcasting.
