LSU softball pitcher Sydney Berzon is making a name for herself as a standout player for the Louisiana State University team.
Born on November 24, 2003, Berzon is currently in her sophomore year at LSU. She made history during her freshmen season by becoming the program’s first NFCA All-American freshman pitcher since 2015.
One of Berzon’s most memorable moments came on May 8, 2024, when she pitched a perfect game against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
This impressive feat took 208 pitches across 14 innings in a walk-off victory, breaking the record for the longest outing in Southeastern Conference tournament history.
Hailing from Buffalo, New York, Berzon attended Baylor High School, where she helped her team secure two state championship titles.
While Berzon focuses primarily on softball at LSU, she comes from a family of student-athletes. Her brother, Zachary, was a member of the Hobart and William Smith College rowing team from 2018 to 2022.
Softball, a sport similar to baseball, is played on a smaller field with a bigger ball. Pitchers in softball throw the ball underhand, unlike in baseball where it is thrown overhand.
Berzon continues to showcase her talent and dedication to the sport as a key player for LSU’s softball team.
