Tricia Todd was a beloved nurse, mother, and US Air Force veteran from Stuart, Florida, who tragically went missing on April 26, 2016. The 30-year-old was supposed to pick up her daughter from her babysitter, but never showed up. Her disappearance led to a search by police, who eventually found her remains in an acid-filled barrel in Indiantown, Florida, a month later.
Her ex-husband, Steven Williams, confessed to luring Tricia to an Airbnb under false pretenses, where he ultimately strangled her to death. Steven then buried her body in a shallow grave at the Hungryland Wildlife Management Area. Despite his heinous actions, Steven managed to avoid the death penalty by cooperating with investigators and leading them to where he buried Tricia.
On September 30, 2016, Steven Williams was sentenced to 40 years in prison for second-degree murder and child neglect. Tricia’s family and loved ones continue to mourn her loss, but are grateful that justice has been served in her case.
Tricia’s story will be revisited in an upcoming episode of ABC’s 20/20 titled The Hungryland Homicide, set to air on May 3, 2024, at 9 pm. The episode will feature insights from those close to the investigation, shedding light on the tragic events that led to Tricia’s untimely death. Viewers can catch the episode on cable or stream it on Hulu after its premiere.
