Yvonne Nelson announces plans for dumsor vigil

Actress Yvonne Nelson has taken a stand against the return of power outages, popularly known as “dumsor,” in Ghana.

She has announced plans to host a vigil to protest the erratic power supply that has been plaguing the country.

In a statement posted on her social media platforms, Yvonne Nelson expressed her disappointment at the resurgence of dumsor and its detrimental impact on the country’s progress and development. She called on Imani Ghana, a group that supported the initial DumsorMustStop Campaign, to join her in organizing another vigil to demand accountability and action from the government.

Yvonne Nelson reminisced about the DumsorMustStop Campaign, which she spearheaded with the support of Imani Ghana’s Kofi Bentil, Prince David Osei, D Black, Van Vicker, Efya, Sarkodie, Barima Sidney, and DKB. The campaign aimed to hold leaders accountable for the inadequate electricity supply in the nation.

Despite facing challenges and opposition during the initial campaign, Yvonne Nelson emphasized the importance of unity among Ghanaians to address the pressing issue of dumsor. She urged all Ghanaians, organizations, and legal professionals to join her in the campaign to push for meaningful action to resolve the current power crisis.

Yvonne Nelson called for the collaboration of lawyers, volunteers, and other stakeholders to help plan and execute the vigil, emphasizing that collective efforts are crucial for success. She highlighted the need for citizens to unite and hold leaders accountable for prioritizing the needs of the people for a brighter and more prosperous future for the nation.

The recent power outages have been a source of frustration for many Ghanaians, with calls for the Ministry of Energy to provide an official timetable to keep consumers informed about power availability.

Government officials have assured the public that efforts are being made to address the situation, with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia promising that the power challenges will soon be a thing of the past.
