The Met Gala is an exclusive annual event that brings together celebrities, athletes, and designers in the world of fashion. This invite-only fundraising extravaganza takes place on the first Monday of May each year, with a new theme set for every edition.
In 2024, the Met Gala will focus on The Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, titled “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” The theme aims to reactivate the sensory capacities of masterworks in the museum’s collection through cutting-edge technologies and traditional formats. Approximately 250 objects spanning four centuries will be on display, united by iconography related to nature.
Guests are expected to attend in ensembles that embody “The Garden of Time,” inspired by JG Ballard’s short story. The dress code encourages costumes embellished with florals and vibrant colors, paying homage to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion.
The co-chairs for the 2024 Met Gala include Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth, Bad Bunny, and Jennifer Lopez. They will join Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour in leading the event, which has become one of the most prestigious gatherings in the fashion and entertainment industry.
The 2024 Met Gala is scheduled to premiere on May 6, 2024, with the Red Carpet event starting at 6 pm ET on Vogue’s website. Hosts for the event include Gwendoline Christie, La La Anthony, and Ashley Graham.
E! will also broadcast their E! Live from the Red Carpet: Met Gala on their cable channel, and the event will be available on Hulu Live TV, YouTube TV, or Sling for those without cable access.
