Tupac Shakur, one of the most iconic American rappers of all time, sadly met his untimely death in a drive-by shooting in 1996.

Known for his 1990s gangsta-rap style and advocacy for social justice, Tupac left behind a legacy that continues to resonate with fans worldwide.

After his passing, control of Tupac’s estate was taken over by Tom Whalley, the former head of Warner Bros Records. The executor role was passed on to Whalley after Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, passed away in 2016.

Whalley, who originally signed a young Tupac to Interscope in 1989, has recently come under fire as Tupac’s sister, Sekyiwa Shakur, and the Tupac Shakur Foundation have filed a lawsuit alleging embezzlement and violation of his role as executor.

Following Tupac’s death, his mother Afeni created Amaru Records to handle the release of his unreleased music. Since Afeni’s sudden passing from a heart attack, the management of Amaru Entertainment and Tupac’s estate has been in the hands of Whalley.

There have been conflicting reports about Tupac’s net worth at the time of his death, with some sources estimating it to be $28 million, while others suggest it was significantly less at $200,000. Tupac also owned a company called Euphanasia, which he established to develop movie projects and support community-minded initiatives.

Tupac had several planned business ventures, including a charity called The Underground Railroad and Thug Mansions, aimed at providing support to disadvantaged youth. As of 2024, Tupac’s estate is estimated to be worth around $40 million, with reports from The Mirror suggesting it could be over $100 million when factoring in a library of unreleased material.

Before her passing, Afeni Shakur, Tupac’s mother, inherited a net worth of $50 million. Afeni was an American philanthropist and former Black Panther who continued her son’s legacy through the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation, which provides scholarships and programs for young people interested in the arts.

Tupac’s music continues to live on through his 10 studio albums and over 150 unreleased songs. Some of his biggest hits include “Keep Ya Head Up,” “California Love,” and “Dear Mama,” showcasing his talent and influence in the music industry.
