Popular bargain retailer, Shop ‘n Save, is set to close its location in Lawrenceville Shopping Center, Pittsburgh next month.

The closure comes after six successful years of serving the community. The decision to close was made due to the expiration of the lease between the landlord and the retailer.

Employees at the Lawrenceville branch have been encouraged to seek new job opportunities at other nearby locations. The closure will make way for a different grocery store chain to take over the space.

Lori Moran, the vice president of Ballmoney Real Estate Services, the company that owns the shopping center, confirmed the closure and assured customers that the shopping center will continue to meet the retail and service needs of the community.

The closing date for Shop ‘n Save is set for May 13, 2024. Some loyal customers have expressed their sadness at the news of the closure on social media. The discount retailer will be replaced by another supermarket chain, Aldi. The exact opening date for Aldi at the Lawrenceville location is yet to be announced.

Despite the closure of Shop ‘n Save, the community can look forward to the arrival of Aldi and the new opportunities it will bring. Moran described the transition as a “win/win situation for everyone involved, including the neighborhood.”
