Popular Ghanaian comedian and actor, Funny Face, real name Benson Nana Yaw Oduro, recently received a touching message from the mother of two children who were involved in an accident with his vehicle.
Despite the distress caused by the incident, the mother urged Funny Face to forgive himself and move forward. In a heartfelt video captured by KofiTV during Funny Face’s visit to the children after being granted bail, the mother emphasized the need for self-forgiveness to avoid sinking deeper into depression.
She encouraged him to find solace, reflect on his life, and reconnect with his faith. “The kids are fine but I want you to forgive yourself else you will be more depressed. Comfort yourself, move on with your life, and draw closer to God. Sit down and analyze yourself. Maybe before you became Funny Face, you were very close to God but after the fame, you departed from God,” the mother of the kids said in the video.
During the conversation, Funny Face, accompanied by his mother, uncle, and Kofi Adomah, expressed his emotional turmoil following the accident. He revealed moments of despair, including a shocking revelation that he had contemplated suicide at the scene, overwhelmed by the false belief that he had caused the children’s deaths.
The incident, which took place on the Kasoa highway, resulted in severe injuries for multiple individuals, leading to Funny Face’s arrest and subsequent release on bail. The court granted him bail of GH¢120,000 with two sureties, setting a date for his next court appearance in four weeks as investigations into the accident progress.
