Sophie Kinsella, a renowned British author known for her Shopaholic series, has captured the hearts of readers around the world with her charming and humorous novels.

Born Madeleine Sophie Wickham on December 12, 1969, in Wandsworth, England, Kinsella initially worked as a financial journalist before transitioning to a career in fiction writing.

She started publishing novels under her real name at the age of 24, but later adopted the pen name Sophia Kinsella, just before working on the Shopaholic series.

In April 2024, the 54-year-old author revealed to her fans on social media that she had been diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Despite undergoing successful surgery and receiving radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments, Kinsella acknowledged the challenges she faces in her health journey.

“I’ll be in touch soon, and in the meanwhile, greetings from sunny London,” Kinsella wrote in her post, expressing gratitude for the support of her family, friends, medical team, and readers worldwide.

She also shared a message of solidarity and encouragement for others battling cancer, emphasizing the importance of support during difficult times.

While best known for the Shopaholic series, Kinsella has authored over 30 books, including standalone novels like her most recent release, The Burnout.

In this comedic romantic novel, Kinsella explores the theme of burnout, drawing inspiration from her own experiences and observations of the world around her.
