Ghanaian comedien Jacinta Ocansey has opened up about how she handles the challenges that come with being a comedian.
In a recent interview with Joy Entertainment’s Becky, Jacinta shared that she has learned to ignore many of the things that can be obstacles in her career.
“I think I have been around long enough to know that I need to ignore a lot of things. So I have learnt to ignore a lot of things. Either I’m cracking jokes about them or I’m ignoring them,” she said.
This ability to brush off negativity comes from a place of understanding the importance of mental health in a creative industry. Many artists face challenges and struggles but may not always feel comfortable sharing their problems, leading to issues like depression.
Jacinta has made a name for herself in the comedy scene, performing in top shows in both Ghana and Nigeria. Some of the notable events she has been a part of include Comedy Night with Buchi, Shakara and the Gang, Comedy Express, and Lord of the Ribs, among others.
In addition to her live performances, Jacinta also has her own annual stand-up comedy specials. In 2022, she held her first solo show titled ‘One Night Stand,’ followed by ‘Woman on Top’ in 2023.
