The incident occurred during filming at the River Niger Cable Point Asaba, where the boat capsized, resulting in the devastating loss.
In a video that has now gone viral, John Dumelo can be seen refusing to participate in a risky canoe scene, citing safety worries.
Despite attempts to reassure him, Dumelo stood firm, emphasizing the potential hazards faced by actors during shoots. This incident has reignited discussions on social media about safety protocols and working conditions in the entertainment industry.

Following the tragedy, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has taken action by suspending all film productions involving boat rides indefinitely.
The President of AGN, Emeka Rollas, issued a statement declaring the suspension of all shoots that involve riverine areas and boat riding.
Additionally, a specific film titled ‘The Other Side of Life’ has been suspended indefinitely, and no actor is allowed to work with producer Adamma Luke until further notice.
