Luke Murray, the son of Ghostbusters actor Bill Murray and talent coordinator Margaret Kelly, is making a name for himself in the college sports industry.
Born on April 1, 1985, in Palisades, New York, Luke is a basketball coach who has been making waves in the coaching world.
After receiving his degree in sociology from Fairfield University in 2007, Luke began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Arizona.
He then went on to work as an assistant basketball coach at Wagner College in 2010, before holding positions at other universities such as Xavier University and the University of Louisville.
In April 2021, Luke started coaching at the University of Connecticut as an assistant coach. Despite the team’s previous struggles, Luke’s coaching skills helped lead the UConn Huskies to their NCAA championship win in 2023.
The team once again took home the championship win in 2024 against the Purdue Boilermakers, with a final score of 76-50.
During the championship game, Bill Murray was seen cheering on his son from the sidelines at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Luke married Kara Cassidy in 2015, and the couple has two sons, Luke Jr. and Cash, as well as a daughter named Celine. Kara currently works as the vice president of channel sales for ADP, a position she was promoted to in February of this year.
