A tragic incident shook a family to its core when a beloved matriarch’s life was taken in a brutal home invasion.
Bich Ha Pan’s untimely death left her family devastated, but what they didn’t know at the time was that her own daughter, Jennifer Pan, was the mastermind behind the heinous crime.
Born on June 17, 1986, Jennifer Pan was a Canadian felon and former piano teacher living in Markham, Ontario with her parents, Bich Ha Luong Pan and Huei Hann Pan. On November 8, 2010, three intruders broke into the Pan household, violently attacking Bich and Hann. Unfortunately, Bich succumbed to her injuries, while Hann survived the ordeal.
In a shocking turn of events, it was later revealed that Jennifer had orchestrated the burglary in a twisted plot to have her parents killed. She had hired the intruders to carry out the horrific act, leading to her own mother’s tragic death. Jennifer was arrested on November 22, 2010, along with four co-conspirators who were charged in connection to Bich’s murder.
After a trial that spanned several years, Jennifer, along with three of her associates, was found guilty of first-degree murder and attempted murder. They were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 25 years. Despite her incarceration at Grand Valley Institution for Women, Jennifer was granted a new trial in 2023 due to errors in the jury instructions.
The chilling tale of Jennifer Pan’s crimes against her own family is set to be retold in the upcoming Netflix docuseries, “What Jennifer Did,” scheduled for release on April 10, 2024.
The series delves into the harrowing details of the murder-for-hire plot that tore a family apart and shocked a community to its core.
